Hazing Prevention Collaborative

The Hazing Prevention Collaborative (HPC) is a multidisciplinary group of students and staff who have come together to reduce and prevent hazing in the UC Berkeley community. We seek to shift the campus culture of organizational initiation to one of belonging, community responsibility, and transparency.  Our objectives will be met through alignment with the evidence-based Hazing Prevention Framework, and the action of three working groups:

  • Website and Resource Materials Development
  • Training and Education
  • Policy and Procedures

Dean of Students Office

The Office of the Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Students in Student Affairs is dedicated to creating an inclusive environment that helps all students reach their educational, aspirational, and personal goals.
We advocate for the needs of students. We help community members navigate UC Berkeley. We promote diversity and prepare students to contribute to a changing world. We support student health and well-being. We facilitate belonging, community, and leadership development. Above all, we foster compassion and care.

Center for Student Conduct

The Center for Student Conduct contributes to the holistic development of students by administering the Code of Student Conduct through equitable practices that promote education, foster a sense of accountability, and encourage community responsibility and mutual respect.

University Police Department

We are committed to working in partnership with our diverse campus community so together we may enhance community trust, reduce the incidence and fear of crime, and promote safety. We pledge to protect individual rights and safeguard property for our students, faculty, staff and guests. We support the University's academic, research, and public service missions with professionalism, integrity and sensitivity.

LEAD Center

The LEAD (Leadership, Engagement, Advising, & Development) Center is UC Berkeley’s hub for student involvement, leadership development, and co-curricular advising. Our goal is to assist students as they explore their interests, pursue their passions, and create community at Cal.

Counseling and Psychological Services (Confidential):

The mission of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is to support the emotional, psychological, educational, social and cultural development of all UC Berkeley students through a wide range of multiculturally based counseling, psychiatric, career, consultation, training and educational services.

University Ombuds (Confidential)

The Ombuds Office can be your first step, your last resort, or anything in between. If you wish assistance sorting through a campus-related conflict or concern, please contact us. The Ombudsperson will listen to your concerns, serve as a sounding board, discuss your options with you, and help you get a new perspective and determine the next steps to take.
The office is strictly confidential and no one will know you have spoken with us unless you wish them to. The only exception to this confidentiality is where there appears to be imminent risk of serious harm or danger.

StopHazing

The mission of StopHazing is to promote safe school, campus and organizational climates through research, information sharing and the development of data-driven strategies for hazing prevention. StopHazing advocates for the needs of students and is calling on one another to report hazing. Despite the illegalization of hazing in 44 states and the implementation of anti-hazing efforts on school campuses across the U.S., these high risk and oftentimes life-threatening practices continue not only in Greek life and among various sports teams, but also in marching bands, military groups and even honor societies. Students commonly perceive these initiation rituals as harmless fun and group-bonding exercises; however, they can progress to downright dangerous behaviors that may even result in fatalities. Check out StopHazing resources on their website.
