There is an important similarity to the consequences of cheating on your partner and cheating in the classroom at UC Berkeley. Getting busted by your partner can lead to a breakup. Getting busted by your faculty or GSI for cheating can result in an “F” in the class and consequences ranging from Warnings to Dismissal. Is this kind of breakup worth the risk? Advances in technology have made it easier for faculty and GSIs to catch different types of academic misconduct that is occurring in the classroom. They are trained with many methods for catching those who cheat. At the Center for Student Conduct, we unfortunately handle a number of cases each semester involving students who allegedly:
The bottom line is that students are getting busted for cheating and plagiarizing and may end up with a mark on their transcript. So, if you didn’t prepare for midterms and you are considering “alternative approaches” to taking your test or writing an essay, ask yourself this simple question: Is breaking up with UC Berkeley worth it? Try these options instead!
