Sproul Hall Elevator Outage Alert
Dear students:
The elevator in Sproul Hall will be out of service for important renovations beginning 8:00am on Monday, December 31, 2018. At this time, we are anticipating the outage to last until approximately March 27, 2019. We will update as we have clearer completion dates and other notifications.
These repairs will bring essential upgrades and improvements to the accessibility and safety of the elevator. We strategically chose to begin these renovations over the campus holiday curtailment, when we have a lower volume of students visiting Sproul Hall.
We certainly understand that this elevator outage can have major impacts for students with disabilities or mobility difficulties seeking access to important services. For that reason, we want to make sure students are aware that:
- Students who need to enter Sproul Hall through the wheelchair-accessible lower level may do so via the south-side entrance (facing Bancroft Way). This is the same entrance used for UCPD, and includes a wheelchair-accessible ramp and automatic doors.
- Students may enter through this accessible entrance during standard business hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday. You may also call staff members of specific offices
- For all of the services in Sproul Hall, staff members will be able to meet students with disabilities on this accessible level.
- To facilitate this, Cal Student Central will have a check-in station at Sproul Hall, room 18, which will also serve as meeting space. In addition, we will have a phone directory for other offices, and our staff members will be happy to meet any student who needs an accessible meeting space.
We appreciate your understanding, and we are hopeful this renovation will result in a better Sproul Hall experience for all of our students, staff, and visitors. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the following Sproul Hall offices if you foresee a need to make arrangements during this outage:
