Sandra Bass

Current Position: Teach with Africa (TWA), Executive Director

“As a political scientist who began my career as a graduate student at U.C. Berkeley focusing on community engagement/empowerment, and who is passionate about social justice and public service, I am absolutely thrilled to throw my hat into the ring for this exceptional opportunity to lead the Public Service Center.  My personal and professional life has been dedicated to the pursuit of a more equitable, inclusive, and just world. As an academic my research focused on linking civic engagement to public policy, police practices, and community empowerment, while my teaching focused on American governmental institutions, urban politics, and the politics of criminal justice reform at the local, state, and national level.”
