April 9, 2021 - Reminder: Testing Requirements

Dear campus housing resident,

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during the self-sequestration we’ve implemented in our residential halls after spring recess, as part of our efforts to prevent a surge in COVID-19 virus transmission. For our residential halls, self-sequestration lifts today (i.e., Friday, April 9th).

The good news is that, thanks in part to your efforts, we’ve been able to keep new cases in our campus housing lower than what might have been possible without a self-sequestration. However, we have also seen a decrease in the number of students maintaining their required number of critical surveillance tests.

We realize that some students may have chosen to extend their time away from campus, and for those who are just now returning campus, please be aware that if you’ve travelled away from campus (regardless of dates) you still must self-sequester for 7 days and be tested at 3-5 days upon your return.

Surveillance testing reminder:  As a campus housing resident, you are still required to undergo some level of surveillance testing, even if you have been vaccinated for COVID-19. Please schedule your test and make sure to remain up-to-date with your current testing frequency

Dining operations: The last day of kiosk service for students living in the residence halls will be Thursday, April 8 and beginning Friday, April 9 you are permitted to go to dining locations for to-go meal service. The Golden Bear Café will also reopen for to-go service on Monday, April 12. Please note that menus at Dining locations may continue to be slightly different than posted for the coming week as we resume normal operations. We appreciate your grace.

Thank you for your continued efforts to reduce virus transmission. We hope that with your help, we can avoid the need to extend mandatory self-sequestration periods and keep our community as healthy as possible.

Sincerely,
Residential Life, Cal Dining, and University Health Services
