March 25, 2021 - Post-Spring Break Reminders

This message was sent to all housing residents from the Cal Housing Office.

Dear student,

We hope you have had a restful Spring Break! As you return to campus, we want to remind you that all students living in the residence halls including suites and mini-suites must self sequester in your room from March 26 through April 8, whether or not you travel during Spring Break.

What the self sequester entails:

  • Remain in your room as much as possible, and avoid gathering with others, even those in your residential household grouping. Solo outdoor exercise is permitted. Read our guidelines on self-sequestering.
  • Continue to do regular surveillance testing. Health Ambassadors will be checking badges at various res hall locations during the sequester period. Please be ready to show your badge. If you travel during Spring Break week, remember that you are required to schedule a test for the first business day upon your return, then twice-weekly according to your usual schedule.
  • Students living in the residence halls and apartments are encouraged to go to the Underhill walk thru site for their surveillance testing, as we’ve arranged for test results to come back faster at this location.
    • Please note that tomorrow, Friday March 26, is a campus holiday, and only the Underhill walk-thru site will be open (8am to noon).
    • Usual hours: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays from 8am-12noon
    • By appointment only on eTang
    • Enter on Channing Way
  • Meals: To reduce the risk of transmission in the dining commons, Cal Dining will again provide outdoor kiosks for you to pick up meals outside the residence halls from March 26–April 8 (do not use the dining commons during this time, regardless of whether you traveled). Please note the following meal pick up times:
    • Lunch pick up: 11a.m.–2p.m.
    • Dinner and to-go breakfast box pick up: 4 p.m.–8 p.m. *pick up your first breakfast box tonight!
    • Read more about where to locate your kiosk location.
  • Shared spaces: Please use the bathroom to which you have been assigned as part of your residential grouping, whenever possible. In addition, only use the restroom when it is not occupied by another resident. Avoid congregating in or near bathrooms or other common areas. Only use the elevators one resident at a time.

Keep following best practices

  • As always, please continue to follow protocols such as physical distancing and wearing face coverings.
  • Bears Protect Bears! Learn more about how you protect yourself and others.
  • Any student experiencing symptoms or who may have been exposed to COVID-19 (or any students with concerns), please call the University Health Services Advice Line 24/7 at 510-643-7197 for consultation.

Thank you,
