November 18, 2020 - Service Update Thanksgiving Week
The Stephen C. Sutton, Ed.D., Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, sent the following message to all undergraduate and graduate students on 11/18/20:
The campus has designated the three days leading up to Thanksgiving, November 23-25, as optional, extended administrative break days for staff to give employees the opportunity to take a much needed extended break during this challenging year.
Many departments and divisions will have a change in hours of operation or limited service during this week. In general, you may experience some delays in service and response times. See below for more details about changes in service for departments within the Division of Student Affairs. If you are a student who is employed at UC Berkeley, we also encourage you to check in with your supervisor about your work schedule.
- Both COVID-19 Surveillance Testing Sites at the Rec Sports Facility and Memorial Stadium will close November 25 at 12 p.m. and will resume operations on November 30.
- University Health Services (UHS) will be closed November 26–27. The advice nurse continues to be available 24/7 at 510.643.7197. The counseling after-hours support line is available at 855.817.5667.
- The Center for Support and Intervention will close on November 25 at 2 p.m. through November 27.
- The phone line (510.664.9181) for Cal Student Central (CSC), which is the access point to Financial Aid and Scholarships, Office of the Registrar, and Billing and Payment Services, will be closed November 23–27 and web case response time may increase. The link to submit a case will remain active and the Virtual Front Desk will be OPEN November 23–25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for general questions.
- Cal 1 Card (C1C) offices will be closed November 25-27.
- Student Technology Services’s virtual Student Helpdesk will be closed November 26–27.
- Cal Housing: Residence halls and apartments will be OPEN but administrative offices will be closed November 26-27. Emergency maintenance response for housing continues to be available 24/7, including holidays. Please contact the RSSP Work Order Center at 510-642-2828 or the on-duty Residential Life staff for urgent issues.
- Cal Dining will be OPEN but will have adjusted hours of operation. Crossroads will be open November 25-27 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Note: Café 3, Clark Kerr, The Golden Bear Café, Pizzeria 1868, The Den, Bear Market, and all other locations will remain closed on those days.
- The Career Center will be closed November 23-27.
- The Public Service Center will be closed to the public November 23-27.
- The LEAD Center will be closed to the public November 23-27.
- Student Union services:
- Individual Workrooms and Face Coverings Distribution will be closed November 25-27.
- The Food Pantry will be closed November 24-28.
- The Amazon Hub Locker and Cal Student Store will only be closed November 26.
- The Center for Student Conduct will close on November 25 at 2 p.m. through November 27.
- The Ombuds Office for Students & Postdocs Office will close November 25 at 2 p.m. through November 27.
- Student Legal Services will be closed November 26-27.
- Early Childhood Education Program (ECEP) centers will be closed November 25-27.
- New Student Services will be closed November 23-27.
As a reminder, for those of you living on or near campus, we strongly recommend that you consider remaining in Berkeley for the Thanksgiving holiday, or returning home and remaining there through the end of the semester. Please follow all travel, self sequester, and testing guidance.
