March 20, 2020 - Paper checks only once per week, encouraging Direct Deposit

UC Berkeley Accounts Payable, Controller’s Office, & Office of the Vice Chancellor of Finance sent the following message to all undergraduate and graduate students 03/20/2020:

 

The Accounts Payable team is continuing its services with minimal interruption during the shelter in place order. Most services will continue unaffected, however, until further notice the production of paper checks for students will be run once a week on Wednesdays, rather than once daily. 

Funds are sent via Direct Deposit. If Direct Deposit is not active, checks will be mailed to the local address listed in CalCentral. To update your local address, see "Profile." Checks will not be available for pick up at Cal Student Central at this time.

  • Paper checks for students (including refunds, stipends, and financial aid) which were previously run daily will now be run once a week on Wednesdays and will be mailed out on Thursdays instead of being sent to Cal Student Central for pickup. Note: This does not include emergency loans. Please visit the financial aid website for more information about emergency loan options during this time.

Direct Deposit will be run daily

  • We will continue to generate Direct Deposit payments daily and the funds will be deposited in 2-3 business days of the payment date. Signing up for direct deposit is the most efficient way to get your refund. It is a fast, convenient, safe and reliable way to have your refunds deposited directly to your bank account.
