Thank you for making GO BIG Community Conversation 2 a Success!

Go Big - Pride, Trust, Community, It Starts With You!

Dear Community Conversation 2 Participant,

Thank you for attending our second GO BIG Community Conversation last week and continuing to craft the future Student Affairs culture. Your voice is integral to creating a work environment where staff trust the people they work with, take pride in what they do, and have a sense of community in support of the student experience.

At Community Conversation 2, we prioritized behaviors we need to continue and stop to promote our three shared values. They are:

  • Respect: We need to continue to practice active listening, accountability and follow through. We need to stop not sharing direct feedback, favoritism, and changing the rules.
  • Communication: We need to continue to have open and honest transparency, consistent communication, and clear expectations. We need to stop making decision without input or data, and withholding information.
  • Honesty/Integrity: We need to continue to have transparency, and lead by example. We need to stop favoritism and gossiping and/or trolling for gossip.

In times of uncertainty and change, our values are critical in continuing to make Student Affairs a great place to work.

The GO BIG team is currently planning community walkthroughs that are open to all staff (especially those who couldn't attend the Conversation); senior leader alignment with Student Affairs Cabinet is happening with Great Place To Work consultants; and Community Conversation 3 is being developed. Additionally, The Lead Big toolkit is available at http://sa.berkeley.edu/leadbigtoolkit.

We will keep you posted with future events that you and your colleagues can join to continue your important participation in this work. Included will be our upcoming Community walkthroughs and the date for the final Community Conversation. We will also soon share the videos and other resources that are coming out of this second Community Conversation.

Sincerely,
The GO BIG Staff Initiative Team
